A special exhibit of original art work based on flowers and gardens.

"Fleurs de Vie" Art Exhibit Goshen, IN, June, 2010 This summer, Sycamore Fine Arts will host a special art exhibit with work inspired by flowers, gardens, and the infamous Elkhart County Quilt Garden Tour. Oil paintings, pastel works, and ceramic functional and sculptural art will be on display. Work by artists Diane Overmyer and Kari Black will be in the exhibit. Black is a graduate of Ball State University. She produces large-scale wheel thrown pieces as well as hand built sculptures and functional ware. Black teaches ceramic techniques to children, adults and families at the South Bend Museum of Art as well as other area locations. Overmyer received her art training through the Fine Arts Program at Indiana University South Bend and through artist led workshops. She now owns Sycamore Fine Arts and teaches painting to other artists through workshops and classes at the Elkhart Art League. Overmyer loves painting garden and forest scenes and has enjoyed working on a series of close up floral paintings which will be part of this exhibit. The public is invited to the artist's reception on Friday, June 25, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The exhibit can be viewed June 25 – August 14, 2010, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the gallery, which is on the second floor of The Old Bag Factory.
